Helping clients find employment

There are some weeks where something just clicks and you have real success…. This week I helped a client gain employment!
I had one of those weeks. I have been continuously trying to reach out to different organizations in order to become a recruiter for my clients but it has been difficult. I have been trying to find different ways to create some kind of employment database for our Islamic Center of Southern California. This is a project I am still working on. However, research for how to do that led me on to the subject of Worksource or One-Stop Centers. These centers are a “collaborative effort between multiple local Workforce Investment Areas within the County of Los Angeles, as well as Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services/GAIN, Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, and the California Employment Development Department. On August 7, 1998, President Clinton signed into law the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). The Act created a unique national workforce preparation and employment system designed to meet the needs of both career seekers and businesses.”
So, I found out about a recruiter for Super King Market who was going to a WorkSource Center in Chatsworth on a Thursday in the morning and afternoon. So, I immediately took to my client’s files and tried to get in touch with every single one of them to tell them about this opportunity. Some of them replied and said that they would go. One of them replied and said she would go and then later emailed me about how it went. She went and was interviewed and was offered a job, alhamduallah. This felt like a great success and a great new plan to help people get
